recently got to attend / run events with two brilliant tarot writers and teachers, lindsay mack and mariana louis. and in both events, discussion centered so much on something i also deeply believe: that tarot isn't just about memorization or keywords, but about deep relationship with the cards.

if you’re anti-AI, or are eager to move beyond relying on AI to help you understand or articulate yourself, tarot can be an active tool that support these efforts. tarot can help you find truth, but it also teaches you to see layers & nuance, to slow down, to pay attention, and to seek clarity.

this is both completely appalling and not at all surprising. great day, like every other day, to support independent journalists and writers who do NOT use AI.

tarot can support our free will and our agency, serving as a tactile, analog reference point and meaning-maker. tarot is literally physical media. not only do you not need AI to read and understand it, but using AI to interpret your cards actively degrades the potency that tarot has to offer.

i’ve been thinking a lot lately about the increasing use of AI in tarot — not just in deck creation (ew) or in studying card meanings (gross), but people literally turning to AI to interpret their card readings. people pulling tarot for themselves, and then asking chatGPT what their reading means.

Anyway, get to ground. It's always my *advice* [when I offer any]. Get hyper local. Find your people and fight where you are. This is where you can make the most impact and a real difference. Do this as much as you can, take care of yourself, and take care of your people.
