Wild sheep eggs! They look tasty but don't be fooled; they're not like the ones you can find at the shops. Wild sheep incubate their eggs 2-3 times longer than domesticated sheep, and the eggs are more mealy and bitter as a result. They can be okay for baking though, if you know what you're doing!

My bestie, the bird's eye speedwell, is starting to look a bit sad around the edges as autumn draws on, but today we've had a bit of a swan song with the flowering 😊 I don't think they last the winter but it's really chucking out seeds at the moment, so there will definitely be more next year.

The global sumud flotilla is now 130 miles from Gaza, the area where Israel has attacked previous boats trying to break the Israeli blockade. In 2010 the Israelis raided a flotilla of 6 ships in international waters & killed 9 people onboard. All eyes on the flotilla.

Kind of worrying that the CEO of Bluesky is an AI advocate. Makes me a little concerned for the longevity for the project.

I found another bizarre wriggler today. Not sure what this one is either, but it's gotta be a larva of some sort. I was wrong last time, but this has to be, right? Also depicted: some sort of green sap sucker and some bird's eye speedwell seeds. For scale, the seeds are only about 2mm long

This tangle of pineapple weed and bird's eye speedwell is a wonderful mash of greens and yellows and pinks. It feels like a natural sculpture, especially with the stones behind. 😊

Who is THIS? I don't think I've seen anything like it before. It was a couple of centimetres long. Very cool. It's a bit like an earwig, but less glossy/brown and without the pincers. Maybe it's some sort of larval form, but it was kinda big!

I discovered a burdock plant on my travels! I thought they were like thistles, with fluffy seeds that get blown by the wind, and that these heads would only have a few seeds left if I was lucky. Turns out that's not true at all and they were heaving with chunky little block seeds 😊

We must keep our eyes on the flotilla. Israel attacking these boats is a crime and we need to keep all the receipts. They can't fail as long as we are watching. Either they get through and embolden others to do the same, or they are stopped and further Israeli crimes are exposed. ✊
