Prob 20% of my feed used to be academics stressed about writing, but 100% of them would endorse this sentiment.

They just don’t get it - they’re trying to replace the part of our job we like the *most*. If they could make an AI tool to vibe-complete travel, reimbursement, and annual reporting paperwork they would make a fucking FORTUNE

The National Science Foundation sign on our Eisenhower Av building is now gone. The NSF mural in the foyer is removed and torn off in sheets. We were supposed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the agency in May 2025. That never happened.

Yep, that's called "topworking" Most of the big orchards that used to grow Red Delicious are now Gala, Honeycrisp, & Cosmic Crisp. And it's not because they cut the orchards down & started over! They just topworked the new varieties in & pruned out the branches of the older varieties.

NSF is open again! A few comments: *Please be patient. During a shutdown NSF employees cannot open computers or respond to emails. *Merit review will continue. However panels won’t resume until after Dec 8th. *POs remain excited and committed to advancing science and the scientific workforce.
