Everyone that warned that accountability mattered 8 years ago re: trump was right. If a goal of our justice system really is (was) crime prevention, then prioritizing criminal rights over accountability was a failure.

I think what bothers me most is how due process remains the theme of our collapsing government. We spent 8 years painstakingly working to ensure that all trump-crimes were carefully litigated. And now no one can be sure they’d get similar cautious treatment in court for themselves.
