Everyone who works for the NYT — including my many friends — should be incredibly embarrassed by this statement. The depths to which the NYT will go to back its agenda of challenging trans people's right to exist is horrifying, ongoing, and has caused very real and specific harms to trans people.

Another awful decision from the BIA, this time saying that Immigration Judges aren't allowed to address obvious problems with the charging document. So, even if it doesn't comply with the statute (including informing the noncitizen of the date and time of the hearing), the IJ can't do boo.

This post mentions me in a story about the new “Somali dockets.” To clarify: I have not accused any judge of rigging cases. What I reported is that multiple Somali clients had hearings canceled and reassigned to the same out-of-state judge. I don’t yet know why.

I'm not sure what to make of it, but every Somali I represent in immigration court currently (8 of them) have today had their hearings cancelled and their judges reassigned. They're now all assigned to a video judge from Louisiana and scheduled for court hearing in one month. 🧵
