Inside a Big Win
I almost didnât go. I was worried about the expense and the TSA situation made the idea of traveling seem impossible. A trip across the country was going to be a big disruption of my routine. Part of the way I manage my various health issues is by maintaining a kind of normalcy and any adventure has to have a pretty big lure to make me risk that.

Special request to my ladies: Sign your artwork! For the women who come after us, at the very least.
loading . . .
Sign Your Name
The article said that one of the reasons so many paintings by women were uncredited to them was that they were worth more without their signature. A signed painting is worth more if it is signed by a man and worth less if it is signed by a woman. Still. Not just in the past. Now. So a lot of women made the choice not to sign their work back in the old days and I imagine some women still make that choice now.

I overheard two artists talking about their Medusa project in a cafe and I got unreasonably mad about it.

Why I Got Weird About Medusa
At the cafĂŠ, two young women were having an animated meeting about something they were making. I realized very quickly that Iâd made a mistake in sitting at the table next to them, despite my affection for people doing creative things together, because they seemed to be working on a piece about Medusa. And these kids knew next to nothing about Medusa or mythology or the gods involved in these stories.
