Being completely disillusioned with professional sports after decades of endless scandal leaves me really wishing I could not be on the Internet some days. Congratulations to all who celebrate, condolences to all those who mourn, and a good rest of your day to all.

The Privilege of Daily Writing (And the Ableism of Prescribing It) PartĀ 1
Once in a while, someone says they canāt write every day, and it isnāt about their raiding guild or their after-dinner drinks or their inability to skip their beauty sleep to get up half an hour early. Once in a while, they say, āNo, I actually canāt write every day.ā And they all mean it.

I will agree with this, and amend slightly that having someone read an older book and acknowledge that it didn't magically start to suck as soon as it left the new release shelf is like being kissed by a pixie in the autumn sun. Back lists keep the lights on!

I remain an ethical objector to using AI. Hundreds of users get harassed every year for downloading copyright protected materials for personal use and threatened with fines or legal action, but it's okay for large companies to download all the things, store them permanently, and profit from that?

Been sitting with how many Black Civil rights leaders bled and died to ge the voting rights act only for it to be struck down by this white supremacist supreme court. This is from bloody Sunday which catalyzed passage of the VRA. It's hard not to shed tears at what we've lost.

So-called AI from the likes of OpenAI and Anthropic have error rates, hallucinations, or whatever you want to call them at way too high a rate. We know this. People accept this. But why? We know garbage allowed into the dataset results in garbage output. These LLMs are indiscriminately trained. 1/
