Local Seacoast NH Snapshot - Week of May 8th, 2026: 4 film days may be... a bit beyond me now. Ending with MORTAL KOMBAT II definitely put the headache overboard. Still, some decent stuff that made me happy! Sweet sheep & endearing filmmaking choices from Billie Eilish.

these days a show gets picked up for a new season after a year+ has passed and the crew has scattered. Seasons used to be 20-40 episodes, and you'd likely get a pickup while you were still working and stay on the show. This constant scramble in and out of short gigs is destroying the industry.

This means most jobs are 4 to 6 months, and then it takes a year to even know if you'll even be asked back. Its completely unsustainable for the average person.

Interview with Jane Schoenbrun, well worth your time. "The acclaimed filmmaker struggled to get their ‘I Saw the TV Glow’ follow-up made — which only gave them more fuel to do so without compromise: 'I don’t see any other trans artists getting budgets, and that’s a fucking shame.'"

He's right. It really messes with momentum. You can't build momentum if you don't have anything to... you know... maintain momentum. It also really fucks with efficiency. You have to get a new batch of artists on the next season because the previous artists were all laid off and got new jobs.

This causes multiple problems. Short gigs, lack of time to build momentum and audience, the crew trained to make this specific show are let go, hard to survive or feel safe. Show quality suffers, stories don’t have time to develop.

Local Seacoast NH Snapshot - Week of May 1st, 2026: I'm seeing things again! Not exactly eagerly, or with profound rewards. HOKUM was worth it! That was a neat horror contraption that made me happy. Take what you can get. Even smaller wins are sadly rarer.

Teachers understand this would destroy public education. Shoving a technology that causes cognitive decline onto kids is the most harmful thing you could do. We're already slowly marching to banning phone & personal computer use entirely during the school day, simply to keep them focused.

I'm just fucking tired of this shit. I can't differentiate between levels of panic, fear or dread over what's happening in the world anymore. It's like differentiating between extremely loud and EXTREMELY extremely loud. At a certain level, it's just all loud, and at this point, it's just all bad.

MICHAEL is just gonna be a nauseating success to see. Proof people will shut out accusations of rape & pedophilia if it's inconvenient enough to something they love. If you abandon or ignore ethics & morals when they're inconvenient, you don't actually have them.

To be clear: These people want us dead. Erasing us from history makes erasing us from the present easier, because if we don't have a past or a heritage, how real can we possibly be?
