Spurred on by a (frankly dumb) post I've seen going around about games as art vs. "escapist slop", as if to say that just because a game with a narrative focus carries a message relating to the real world makes it not escapism. lol

I find it kind of interesting that most of the replies to this gravitate strongly towards overtly narrative focused games, which is understandable, but is there no beauty to be found in games that are extremely mechanics centric? Where does the distinction between "toy" stop and "art" begin
