its really funny because its not a problem when reading or listening at all, it feels perfectly fine. but outputting language is a whole other ballgame than taking it in

in english you'd say something like "i was really hungry so i went to the store" but in japanese you essentially say (in the most literal way to present the syntax) "to the store i went because, i was really hungry" fucks with my brain every time. its gonna take some work to make that come naturally

by far the most challenging thing for me about speaking and writing in japanese so far is the semantic order of words being almost completely inverted. in english you talk about the information closest to you as the speaker first and then expand outward, while japanese is outward info -> inward
