I wanted this album for years (an original, not the anniversary reissue). A record store I used to go to in my old neighborhood was always really kind to the customers, so the owner saved me one and one day when I went browsing in 2021, he told me he saved it and gave it to me for free.🥹🤍

You can't actually steal ppl's ability and capacity to create art so the next best thing is devaluing the creation of art itself.

I hope folks grasp the fascistic resentment underpinning this shit, and the fact that there is nothing these AI robber barons would like more than to automate human creativity because they resent it and wish to devalue, own, and control it and us.

And the thing that will have the most value for me is that people will see my name and know that a human being worked on this book and did her best to make it the best, and most meaningful, book she could.

So what's gonna happen there? She's going to have to constantly cycle through pen name after pen name, regurgitating books in different formats, and she'll be joined by thousands of other content extruders all fighting over the same "we fooled you" dollars.

She's making six figures right now, but that's on hundreds of books. She's not making huge amounts of money on any one book. Mostly, she's just marketing shit barely well enough to fool people into thinking she has a real product, and then not getting them to stick around.

Like, it's just really easy to see that I am not going to be able to keep up with the LITERAL REST OF THE WORLD in output. Even without AI. The way people like me win is by writing memorable books that relate to the human experience.
