I just finished watching Michelle Obama’s wonderful interview with Jonathan Capeheart. I am smiling. My spine is firmer. And she is a national treasure!

According to this morning’s NYTimes, at least two of the Brown University students on campus during yesterday’s (Dec 13) fatal mass shooting had survived ANOTHER school shooting in their past. Insanity.

Trump wondered aloud why we don’t now get any immigrants from Denmark, Norway, or Sweden. They have universal healthcare, paid leave, free college, gun control, and Trump is not their president. Why would they want to come here?

Greatest Threat To Democracy? Unfair/meaningless elections. "[Republicans] want to ... subvert the 2026 election with as little scrutiny as possible. They want election denialism to become routine and mundane so that it is ignored until it is too late. We cannot let that happen."

We who grew up in the postwar era in the 20th century came to believe that democracy and freedom were inevitable. We were wrong. If we are to preserve our experiment in self-governance, we have to bend that arc of justice ourselves.

I watched Rachel Maddow and Tim Snyder's TV special last night. A big takeaway: simply posting online stuff that does not translate to action in the physical world is NOT meaningful Resistance. I needed that reminder. Am still chewing on next steps, but ordered 100 whistles to wear and share.
