Held his weapon in one hand and his phone in the other, and, as far as the video shows, completely violated the basic rule of knowing whatâs behind your target before firing (fellow officers and bystanders). Incredible.

There was, for a time, a debate w/i the intel & policy world whether Qassem Soleimani was sui generis or whether another IRGC commander could just as easily advance Iranâs regional strategy, & maintain IRGCâs internal power inside the regime. I think this question has been definitively settled.

There is a genuinely held belief on the right that Americaâs minorities and immigrants suck the Treasuryâs coffers dry at the expense of native-born white Americans. The MAGA propagandists will support this Greenland scheme, of course, but Trumpâs GOP support continues to dip & this wonât help.

The office she leads was created to provide a single source of truth for Intel products and ODNI is cut out of the loop because the admin *had* to put a Assadist in the chair. ODNI is another misstep in the post-9/11 reorgs IMO but thatâs a whole different story.

An analysis of footage from three camera angles shows that the motorist was driving away from â not toward â a federal officer when he opened fire.

I promise, elected Dems, that Americans of all political stripes know things are expensive and prices continue to rise. They know. Other things happen too. I believe the horrific incident that just occurred in the senatorâs state highlights why itâs so important NOT muddy your primary message.

The officer was in no danger as the two angles of the video make abundantly clear. He resorted to lethal force so rapidly, heâs lucky he didnât strike another officer or bystander. ICEâs training, tactics, and leadership have turned the organization into a lethal and shambolic threat to the public

People who fancy quoting the Melian Dialogue ("the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must") ignore the fact that Thucydides was clearly portraying this as the kind of hubris that squandered Athens' primacy and paved the way for a devastating peer war that it ultimately lost.

rough math here is that the whole operation cost between 500m-1b over the last few months to build up, train, and execute. If oil was sold today (closed at about 56.20) youâre making somewhere between 500m and 1.5 billion dollars for the low price of setting the global order and US laws on fire.

I had a medium Twitter account. In Obamaâs 1st term I debated a similarly sized âtcotâ account daily. Mutual respect grew into a sort of friendship. Bridge-building that cut thru the noise. Those interactions are exceedingly rare (often punished) today but it can work in the environment OP describes
