In TTRPGs, the opposite happens where the maps, creature/character art and the GM does most of the 'showing', so what room there is in the book for text needs to be 'telling'. No better feeling in the world than dropping that 'tell don't show' voice when I'm at my own desk.

What are the touch stone 'how to'/'how not to' texts on voice-oriented, or experimental, writing? It seems common for early writers to have the drive and interest in writing experimental work, but not quite grasp what makes experimental writing work. (Frequently, they are just breaking grammar.)
