Sometimes my tablet’s grammar check does it’s thing and underlines something blue, but doesn’t remove the line after I’ve fixed what made it a grammar error. “I’ve fixed the problem, grammar check.” “No! You will click on the wiggly line only to be shown the word that’s already there!”

I remain caught off guard by A Wild Last Boss Appears existing as an anime with S-Tier production value. Granted, I’m not sure what the criteria is for all the production tiers in my head, but this puts it in company with Shangri-La Frontier and Spy X Family. I’d never have foreseen that.

I’m going to try to refer to LLMs and the like as “AI”. We need a short way to be able to refer to a menagerie of “AI” that’s easy to understand without explanation while ALSO clearly implying it’s not true AI, and air quotes neatly do that.

That moment when in the process of arguing against something you find the argument for it and your conclusion winds up being a form of agreement.

I find it fascinating that “I f*** with it” has become a positive thing, apparently? Even just a few years ago, I’d take that as a negative. Now I’m hearing it as “yeah I’m all about this thing I f*** with it” Granted, I was conditioned when young to usually hear it as aggressive.

I think AI itself is neat and interesting. The problems are how it’s being used, being pushed on people, safety issues, energy requirements, people being tone deaf about people not fawning over their own work getting put into it, people thinking “look I made a deepfake of someone” is a great idea…

I’m sure #MagicTheGathering Arena‘s code knows what’s up, but I’m confused. My opponent had one life, and these two cards in play when their turn began. I‘m surprised the life gain and loss didn’t both happen before checking the final life total. I guess it checks life before the end of the stack?

*Blinks* The first chapter of my novel is, at present, 4155 words. Assuming 250-300 words per page, that’s 14-17 pages. That‘s not absurdly long or anything, and there are likely bits I can trim in editing. Nonetheless, I’m surprised it’s that long.

I have trouble keeping track of people in some novels, and I've realized its because, in those novels, I'm expected to know them by name. Other details I'd find more helpful are less emphasized. So if a mystery novel tosses a bunch of names at me, well... I might be a bit lost at times 😅

I didn't think the John Nettles introduction to the DCI Barnaby audiobooks was specifically a warning about Troy being different from Midsomer Murders. Based on the previews, however, this same introduction is included with all seven audiobooks, which makes me wonder if it's being used as such 😅

The Dark History of The Reincarnated Villainess gets my attention this season if for no other reason than doing something I haven’t seen yet in regard to who (in-universe) wrote the isekai world’s story. Also, it’s very much a comedy. Maybe not maximum hilarity, but I’m here for the vibes.

A funny thing about AI is they have to worry about being a good teacher. They’re training models in a way that it’s not just a matter of “oh, we’ll pop in and fix that.” If they inadvertently teach it something bad, that’s got to be a mess, especially if it’s too late to roll it back.

Y’know, the power of charts is a joke in my comic, but I listen to some arguments? I really do think some visual aids would make a difference. Heck, a blown up bullet point list could clarify a lot. “What are we even—Oh, right. We’ve got a list handy.”

"They released a breath they didn't know they were holding" might be cliche, but I believe it is the phrasing that makes it so. I've listened to books in which the same idea is conveyed, but is expressed far more eloquently, and with elaboration. I imagine this applies to many cliche phrases.

I think there are a lot of insecure bullies out there who are not prepared to handle unfiltered, often anonymous feedback from the internet. Of course those who grew up without internet, but given how much of that behavior may well be egged on by instinct, I don’t thing younger people are immune.

When my novel is eventually published, be it self published or otherwise, know that many of the spell names might have been simpler—or made more sense—if not for so many common words getting suffixes slapped on the end before becoming names for products or companies.
