A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down. All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown. So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!

For people saying US citizens just need to show their IDs to avoid being stopped in immigration raids: This man did. Agents told him it was fake.

Need to balance acceptance things are going to get worse with assurance Trump and his empowering Republicans are going to get obliterated by patriotic, freedom-loving Americans at the ballot box in 2026.

Just to note. January 23, 2019 there was a vote to reopen government (HJ RES 28, roll call vote 46) when the govt had been shut down for 30 days. Mike Johnson voted “no” on that. They didn’t seem to mind shutdowns then

I hope it's clear to everyone now that Trump really is going for it - he's trying to become a dictator. I don't know if he'll succeed, but he's working to install himself as an autocrat unaccountable to voters. And he's weaponizing the military against Americans who oppose him as part of that effort

So let me get this straight. Trump gets into a trade war with China. China stops buying American crops. Argentine farmers fill the gap, screwing US farmers out of billions. Trump then sends $20 billion to help out Argentina's economy. How is this winning? What am I missing?
