Speaker Johnson sent us home for the holidays without holding a vote to protect the ACA subsidies – unfortunately, I can’t say I’m surprised.  This means that in the new year, my constituents will see their costs rise by hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. It’s unacceptable.

Some good news today! $126,000 is coming to CD5 for AmeriCorps senior volunteer programs! Whether it's helping kids with special needs with their schoolwork or supporting older adults who need assistance, these volunteers make our community whole.

Every year, scouts from Troop 127 sell Christmas trees to raise money to help them go to summer camp – they’ve been doing it for over 75 years!  I spoke with troop leader John about how the scout program sets up kids to be future leaders.

With a proposal as impactful as the Detroit Lake drawdown, it's critical the community has a chance to speak up – that's why I requested the Army Corps give people more time to submit comments. They received our letter, and set the new deadline for January 13th!

Oregon has one of the highest rates of youth and teen homelessness in the country, but too many of these children can’t get the support they need.  This week, I introduced the Homeless Children and Youth Act to fix the system and make sure all our kids can access a pathway out of homelessness.

This year, a drone delayed firefighters’ aerial response to the Flat Fire, putting our communities at unnecessary risk. Today, I introduced the Wildfire Aerial Response Safety Act to make sure that next wildfire season, fire crews aren’t faced with obstacles when completing their life-saving work.

I’ve been sounding the alarm about the millions of Americans that will see healthcare costs rise if Republicans don’t take action & hold a vote, but still, nothing! Oregonians shouldn’t have to choose between their prescriptions and putting food on the table. Speaker Johnson needs to make a plan.

I called on Speaker Johnson to put a vote on funding for our rural schools on the Floor for a vote – last night, it happened, and it passed! Now, it's time for the President to sign this into law and get the money flowing – our schools have been missing support for far too long.

The Trump Administration failed to meet key wildfire prevention and brush cleaning goals this year, which puts our communities at risk. I wrote to the Forest Service demanding answers for why this happened, and a plan going forward to make sure Oregonians stay safe.

Oregon City’s Farmers Market participates in the SNAP Double Up Bucks Program, which helps Oregonians put fresh & healthy food on the table while supporting local farmers. It was great to visit and see all the local harvest – thanks Rachel and Jess for showing me around!

Today, I got the opportunity to attend Central Catholic High School’s annual Democracy and Action event. I was glad to join this year to talk with the seniors about what a life in public service looks like, and how they can get involved!
