R.I.P Nelvana Ltd, a genuinely tremendous force in the animation industry, for both Canada and even the US, ESPECIALLY on the television animation side of things. Shouting out 1996’s Stickin’ Around as an example of their work, had to have been a nightmare to make this style work this well.

In addition to being immortalized, Nelvana will live in Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars. Anakin's final trial involves him rescuing the Nelvaan Warriors. They're named after Nelvana, who animated the Boba Fett segment in the Holiday Special. Rest easy.

My first pitch ever was to Nelvana when I was 22 years old. I pitched them a cartoon called Mudboy. I had a full-blown panic attack in the car on the way back to my apartment afterward. Such a great studio.

Nelvana was a king of animation during the 80s and 90s, if you wanna see some incredible hand drawn animation, watch some of their 80s tv specials and their theatrical film, Rock and Rule

I just want to point this out: Nelvana was on the verge of shutting down the first time, and it was a 1985 movie about bears that care that saved the studio from going under. With the recent announcement of a live-action movie, surely Nelvana can be saved again if they're part of it. right?🤔

Nelvana during its 6 decade history has produced many TV shows & movies combined. Sad to see the biggest canadian animated studio closes its doors and have worked w/HBO,Nickelodeon,and many other networks & studios. We'll never forget the iconic logo after the end of a show.

This legitimately makes me sad. Most folks my age remember Nelvana from the 2nd Care Bears series and movies. And whats interesting about that is that they were one of the first companies to beat Disney at their own game during the Black Cauldron era no less. This sucks.

So of you don't recognize this, but a ton of Canadians know the joy that this bear symbol brings with it.

thinking on the nelvana thing, i can imagine it's like. nelvana international survives and continues to manage licenses and franchises but no new work is being made which is kind of identical to what happened to cartoon network studios vs cartoon network. so. cool. the winds of change i suppose

Well that's a rough bit of news to close a holiday weekend with. I never even knew this studio's name until today but they apparently made a lot of shows i had brief run ins with all through my childhood possible. Hope the folks who aren't retiring can find new jobs soon.
