I was a coms staffer at PSAC when the Harper government slashed the public service — a miserable time for everyone. Disabled people are forced into legislated poverty. They can't have assets exceeding certain dollar amounts. Most benefits are means tested. Many can't inherit. They're also forced to give up their benefits should they marry. The system sees them as a 'dependant' We need a living wage & autonomy.
