Misinformation makes everything worse, but we are witnessing collapse in peer review: $ cuts and precarity mean fewer people have the time necessary to do basic work. Experts can't do all the reviews so editors go far down the list to the inexpert, editors don't have time to sort out conflicts, etc.

Just got rejected from the Journal of Medical Ethics. It was pretty illuminating in terms of how far society has fallen.

OK, not a lawyer, but I'm hearing a lot of folks calling what happened at Dal a strike so here's my two cents on why we need to say LOCKOUT. To start a strike or lockout you have to give 48h notice. No notice to end them. On Aug 18, the Dal Pres. announced a *lockout* would begin on the 20th. 1/4

Oh, great. For accessibility, it helps some students to know a reading schedule for a literature class well in advance so in early July I posted a tentative schedule in Brightspace. I just learned that they made our Brightspace page inactive during their lockout. This is an accessibility failure.

The Board-ordered lockout that began Aug 20 has finally ended: classes start on Tues. I’m excited; but I hope that someone is not now trying to concoct a report on the ‘success’ of this innovative tactic in the ‘rebalancing of markets and mission’. By what KPI would they benchmark it? 🧵 (1/7)

Lockout memo: 'If a labour disruption is inevitable, then it’s in Dalhousie University’s best interest to move to that stage now instead of delaying until after the new academic year begins, when the consequences for students would be much more severe.' That stank when issued and stinks more now.
