To address the crisis of hate violence in our city, we must fully fund the NYC Against Hate Violence policy proposal endorsed by the City Council Progressive Caucus, which calls to invest $26-30 million in non-carceral hate violence prevention.

The Progressive Caucus (@nycprogressives.bsky.social) of NYC Council (@council.nyc.gov) said in a Sunday night statement that the NYPD violated city sanctuary laws by coordinating with ICE on the timing of an arrest at Wyckoff hospital in Bushwick. They called for an investigation.

TBT to last week’s first-ever hearing of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood Education. Early childhood providers - overwhelmingly women of color - are the backbone of this system. Yet too many are paid poverty wages & forced to work 2nd and 3rd jobs. We have to stop paying women less to do more.

Tens of thousands of New Yorkers are living in undignified conditions. The SAFER Homes Act aims to reinvent the Third Party Transfer program by going after the most neglectful owners, while protecting and expanding homeownership opportunities.

The New York City Council is considering a bill to allow the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development to seize buildings from landlords who have racked up housing code violations and debt from unpaid taxes and fines and turn them over to better owners. gothamist.com/news/mamdani...
