AND... I had Stage 4a colon cancer at diagnosis. I've been NED for 4.8 years...and NO DOCTOR will say that it won't recur...so I'd like, at least, annual scans for many years to come. Let's catch the recurrences EARLY. It's called being PROACTIVE...not fearful.

treatment, very few patients are "asymptomatic." We are rife w/symptoms & side effects from our treatments, surgeries, etc. It's v. hard 2 sort out what's NORMAL pain & what's potential RECURRENCE.

My suggestion after Duncanās good advice is once you tell your story, and youāre over the shock of diagnosis, donāt leave it there. Call out stigma (no one deserves this disease) & lack of research funding. Champion lung cancer screening for whom itās appropriate. Try for media coverage, too.

This dilemma in

makes my heart ache. A drug approval can give priceless, precious, extra months of life to a patient who wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise. But on a systemic level, the cost *is* borne by some other group, because there are finite resources. š
