Good thread, this is the key point. Far too many people in British politics seem to not understand that ultimately the thing causing the energy price shock is...the world doesn't have as much energy as it did before Trump invaded Iran, something with real and deadly consequences.

The Iranian regime is a murderous totalitarian piece of shit. But it entered into a politically painful nuclear agreement the US which the US tore up, negotiated with the US only to be attacked during talks, then negotiated once more and was attacked a second time.

Genuinely, this whole debacle is showing every flaw in Trump’s approach in one go. Iran had a deal with the US. Trump broke it, then attacked them. So why would they trust him? Trump alienated all his allies, then attacked Iran, not realizing the effects on the straits. Now no one wants to help him.
