Positive news emerging about Nuvalent's 4G TKI for ALK+ NSCLC patients. Latest trial result show 31% of all patients had a complete or partial response (many of these were heavily pre-treated with other TKIs and chemo). For patients who never received Lorlatinib this increased to 46% 1/n

I think (hope) this a data issue (how it is collected or used to calculate these stats.) If not, this says oncs are either not reading the biomarker section of biopsy reports, or reading it but deciding "no, I won't follow the NICE guidance for ALK+ patients". And that would be incredibly bad.

I'm 55 in May and as someone with a high likelihood of a much reduced lifespan (thanks cancer), I was planning to start taking a little out of my pension. Might put that off a little longer now (thanks President Cheetos)

It's #RareDiseaseDay 2025 What is a rare disease? One that affects < 1 in 2000 My cancer is rare enough that its prevalence isn't tracked nationally. From research I have done with a charity, we think there are less than 200 people diagnosed annually and less than 2000 patients across the UK.

I spent the morning at The Christie Hospital in Manchester - an appointment with my oncologist to review scans and blood, followed by the pharmacy to pick up cycle 74 of my meds. Scans all stable, so on we go for another 3 months. Living with lung cancer continues. #cansky

Spent the day fiddling with Excel spreadsheets to figure out if I can start drawing down my pension this year. Running monte-carlo sims in Excel less than ideal, but gets the job done. Of course the hard part in any pension calc is allowing for that "black swan" event in the first few years. 1/2

Mum in my support group just announced her 18yo Son died last week. Fuck this disease. Fuck it to hell and back - except there is no hell or heaven either because no caring creator would ever inflict such horror on us. Equal parts angry and heartbroken 😖

I hope one day we will have a cure for cancer. I fear we will never have a cure for stupid. I’m way beyond being patient with people that fall for the grifts described in this thread… and those that perpetrate the grifts are beyond contempt.
