Like many countless fans, I am saddened to hear of the passing of John Blanche. Perhaps one of the greatest influences to the tone and feel of Warhammer but also to the dark but whimsical nature of 'Grimdark' vibe. The man knew how to make cherubs terrifying yet incredibly silly.

For me as a 16 year old artist trying to get a grip on my style, it wasn't the huge elaborate paintings or the immaculate battle scenes that inspired me with Warhammer. It was the far simpler character art of John Blanche that inspired me and helped steady my artistic hand.
