Does anybody know much about Kumon maths. I had a quick chat with a young lady who was interested in joining my online classes. She know 8+6=14 because she had memorised it in her Kumon sessions. But she had no strategy or 'numbersense' So for 38 + 6 = she counted on one at a time.

Teach the area model of mulitplication first. Then teach multiplying fractions using the area model then use this to teach finding equivalent fractions by multiplying, then teach adding fractions with different denominators. Area model also good for decimals and % Thoughts?

Year 6 negative numbers on a number line in context. The idea of 'more' For height and depth related to sea level, deeper is 'more depth' more debt, more cold So relating more to a direction rather thatn a magnitude. Is this the time to introduce additive inverse? mathsbot.com/manipulative...

I am looking for help for a parent of a year 2 child that has contacted me for tutoring. I haven't space unfortunately. Her daughter counts up and down in ones to calculate within 10 but in school she is now doing column addition. I use Numbersense for this but it is a subscription.

I run online group maths classes for home educators. Mastery model. Primary level maths with 15 classes, all at a different point along the journey. At the moment I spend 20-30 mins with a new child and make a best judgment as to where to place them. Anything better and not time consuming?
