In the orchestra today one of the bassists was just living his best life - I found a video of the RSNO where you can see his head-banging energy

At a singing day and my objective is to convince the alto sitting next to me to quit her home town community choir, because they are terrible and she hates singing with them. She doesn't like the style of music they do, and she is significantly more musically skilled than the group.

Hard agree. Most of the time I'm the one looking at my walls. I don't like the visual clutter of books. I was so happy when I installed gallery rails and covered an entire wall in my flat with art.

I'd like 2026 to be my Year of Actually Using a notetaking app. Everything seems to have AI in it. Are there any notes apps left that don't?? Will I be reduced to using .txt files that live in my dropbox or something?

Absolutely incredible that we have AI engines that can generate revenge porn but we can't make a screen reader that can read out text from inside a picture? Did I hallucinate OCR technology in the 90s or something

Who knows about "accessibility" PDFs (readable by screen readers) and MS Word? Why when I "Print to PDF" this doc is 2 pages, but if I "export" to PDF, it is 3 pages? On screen, it is 2 pages. When I print to paper, it is 2 pages. Absolute blank faces when I ask the senco or the repro woman.

If you don't want to have kids, it's fine. And if you end up settling "abroad", it's also fine. If you don't go in with an "expat" mindset, you won't feel adrift.

Had an intriguing editorial discussion recently: how did people in the past talk about 'minutes' when they didn't have watches or standardised times? How does that affect your thinking? Come down an Elizabethan/Jacobean rabbit hole with me. 1/
