This time last week I’d sat down with a coffee, got Lola settled and was happy to have a day off so she could rest, and start building strength. By the Sunday night I knew what the answer was. It still doesn’t seem real, I’d built my life around her for fifteen years, the routines and habits.

He sent a handwritten letter - two sides of A4 on headed paper with his home address at the top - saying he didn't think he had much of use to say on the matter but he was flattered to be asked and wished us good luck with the item. And that, my friends, is proper old school manners. A legend.

Following on from Saturday, she’s gotten worse. She’s settled and comfortable and I’ve made the decision I never wanted to. So to have an interaction on our last walk with a group of 10-11 year olds like this was special. There might be hope for the future generations yet.

Still not right so a trip to the vets today, seems to be heading towards kidney disease (due to some of her arthritis meds) which is good news, as I was concerned the end was closing in. Meds change, diet adjustment and lots of money, she’ll crack on for a while yet.
