While the State Department CAN revoke *visas* with very little legal process involved, stripping someone of a green card is done by DHS (not the State Department) and requires filing formal charges alleging a violation of immigration law and a removal hearing in front of an immigration judge.

NOAA is reportedly on the DOGE chopping block. The National Weather Service, which is part of NOAA, provides life saving weather forecasting in the US. A study found that for every $1 invested in NWS, it produces $73 in value to Americans. Again, this isn't about efficiency.

Our recent work is motivated by claims like "Using Model A, we replicated earlier findings." Usually, this just means Model A replicated the good fit of the original study. But fit replication ignores important between-study differences in both data patterns & parameter estimates

The most frustrating thing about working for the oldest social science data archive in the world is knowing how much cool stuff we have that goes unused because people don't know about it. In some cases, making data usable requires more resources than we have (THREAD).
