John Blanche did to wargaming what Vivienne Westwood did to fashion. Dungeonpunk showed us that you didn't have to respectfully render Tolkien in historical hues, but could slap on tentacles and spikes and lipstick and chequers and blazing evil moons.

We really lost something irreplaceable with John Blanche. Warhammer and dystopian sci-fi overall wouldn't be the same without him. I owe a lot to him and his art. Here is to one of the greats.

John Blanche is dead, and it sucks. It was inspiring to find out that him and Jes Goodwin never really fit in at art school, much like myself. Yet they found greatness, their way. His Imperium was arresting in its sinister disgust. Not grand and mighty. A rotting corpse inhabited by rotting people.

Feel as though people will truly never understand his death. He was killed for being an Indigenous Queer Man with a Transgender Partner. Every single one of those signifiers on axis/intersections/marginalizations is extremely important, but it is in tandem all at once not just because he “Gay”.
