I watched Shelby Oaks tonight, I knew basically nothing about this film, was surprised it was found footage and then surprised again that it wasn't. I enjoyed where this story went and had some decent scares.

It cannot be overstated how much influence Suzuki has had on modern horror. Without his books being adapted, the modern crop of horror movies looks VERY DIFFERENT. Without RINGU, there is no SINISTER or INSIDIOUS or IT FOLLOWS. The J-Horror aesthetic which evolved from his books redefined horror.
