Look you just have to make the cool weird shit that excites you. You must. In this world besieged by bland, scrubbed boring, computer slop, you must. Make the thing you’re embarrassed to make, the thing that feels “too much” because otherwise we get drowned in a sea of cowardly work made by a button

Whenever I hear comic creators talk about what an ‘honor’ it is to work on this character or that IP, this sort of quote is what my mind flashes to. These publishers want you to think that it’s an honor to compromise your work and get screwed over. Don’t buy into that.

My hot take is that publishers can solve their "damn, this artist can't meet a deadline" problem by paying us with the same regularity they pay their in-house staff. Because applying for hospital financial aid with the system we are currently paid in is a disaster.

Being a creative in 2025 is like, okay, time to work: first, let’s have a good cry about all the cruelty we are powerless to stop in the world but not too long, don’t want to drown in despair and alright time to draw my silly little pictures now

my very hot n spicy midnight comics take is that i think it’s kind of bullshit that when men make fan work it’s a blockbuster movie or official paid series work, but when women do it it’s dismissed as fan art or fan fic which is very low, derisory art that makes little to no money at all

Every comic creator's obituary is like, he created this iconic character who was in a movie that made $700 million last year. He died with a net worth of $12 after the publisher countersued him.

terfs hate asexual people because at the core they feel like being "normal" is aspirational and everything that hints towards life being complex, often contradictory, always hard to quantify experiences rather than just a set of unspoken rules is abject to them, like it is to all conservatives
