I just assembled a 52 hp portable Eurorack case to serve as an interface to guitar pedals. Its missing a few modules but it’s arranged to accept them later and will be plenty functional as-is.

Found “bleakgaze” on everynoise dot com but Google thinks it pretty much isn’t a thing. A word-play on blackgaze, gesturing towards the more melancholy ambient side. Yeah, credible; but I want it to be a thing.

This sort of thing keeps me wedded to hardware synths and outboard mixers/recorders.

I had a Linux box that I was using as an asterisk sandbox environment for work. And I decided since it's running 24/7 to also setup a music server. Basically creating my own intranet streaming service. Best decision ever. Flacs sounds so much better than regular streaming.

Maybe I have played with my new reverb pedal enough to give a public reaction. It’s Mesmeriser by Pedal Partners + Maneco Labs. I like it and am glad I bought it.

I tested those pedals amidst a Boss distortion with EQ (upstream), a Boss parametric EQ downstream, and a strange boutique reverb at end of chain. I turned all of these on and off in different combinations to see what difference that would make.

Here’s tonight’s summary of my iSet pedal experience. Out of 13 pedals (all gifts from a friend, all having been returned by customers with no record as to why) …

My first module was a Manhattan Analog CVP, at Knobcon eleven years ago. Just ordered my second module by that manufacturer (DTA). It’s pretty cool that we’re both still around. Eurorack has sure boomed in the duration!

I wandered (back) into guitar pedals lately and they keep being harder than I expect them to be. They’re like modular synths on easy mode until they’re not.
