This is not accurate. Conventional final compression would apply to the final mix, right? Located at the end of the effects loop it only applies to what’s in that path, which is only a portion of each channel. It thus doesn’t compress the whole mix.

After re-patching to interpose a mixer between inputs and outputs of my DPW Design P2, I’m better able to manage subsequent pedals. I can better find useable ranges and avoid digital blowout artifacts.

After a couple satisfying days of playing dry synths I’ve shifted down the audio chain to add effects using pedals. Yet again I find myself with the impression that PEDALS SUCK.

It’s satisfying to know Kevin Shields was inspired by DAF synth driftings as he strove to create his breakthrough glide guitar technique.

I got up close with a Portuguese man-o-war and my god these animals are shockingly beautiful.

I keep window-shopping for Boredbrain Xcelon SL but I also keep coming back to confidence that most of its value could be had by using my current mixers, if I would just decide and learn to use them as performance controllers.
