Idk, I listened to the whole "nearly 13 minutes" on C-Span. I didn't think it was mostly critical, centered on flaws, or defensive. It countered nativism with an eloquent statement--singularly appropriate for NYC--of the aspirations, contributions and achievements of immigrants who became Americans
