I'm enjoying various threads about King & Conqueror more than the programme itself so far. My main issue is that it is TOO DARK and that everyone is dressed in brown all the time. The horse hairstyles are awesome, and I'm glad they had some women musicians.

Died (alas!) on this day in 1693, in Amsterdam, Willem Kalf. Extraordinary still life painter. Here from 1653, drinking horn & lobster. A+ diagonals there! Strangely energetic for painting of dead things.
