I could never really grasp how writing on medieval wax tablets would be legible, until a recent visit to the _Archives nationales_ in Paris: in this example, the stylus leaves a white trace in the black wax:

I have been cited about 120 times across eight languages. My work has been relied on in an amicus brief to SCOTUS and by the New Zealand Law Society. I was included last year in the OJLSā retrospective of feminist work published across its history. But my career external funding stands at Ā£13k.

'"You canāt have hobbyist research thatās unfunded going on in institutions. We canāt afford it.ā' Such a badly formulated phrasing of the issues, so open to so many misinterpretations. If this is the level of thinking about research among sector leaders and policy-makers, be very afraid.
