In part of my dream, I found myself stuck at a stoplight behind a horse. The light turned green. When the horse didn’t move, I lightly honked. The horse was actually an ostrich, that proceeded to angrily slam its beak into my windshield.

Has anyone found a better professional greeting/departure gesture than a handshake? I dislike them and hugs are probably unprofessional. I tried to get zen bows going during the height of the pandemic but it never caught on. I just don’t love handshakes, we’re in 2025 and they feel so colonial.

In April, white oganizers with 50501 Los Angeles harassed Erik, a well-known and respected Black activist, calling the police on him because he would not move his Black Panthers merch table out of a public area away from their protest. After an uproar, 50501 LA organizers issued an apology.

I’m intrigued by this solution and have to admit I’m uneducated about it. Looking forward to researching Seoul’s governance structure.

My family in LA has evacuated due to the fires, and the lack of empathy is maddening. These aren’t just “rich people” being affected. My aunt and uncle bought their home back when it was actually affordable. They’re not wealthy by any means and won’t be able to rebuild easily if they lose it.

While the LA Times staff has been giving their lifeblood to keep the public informed. They deserve our thanks. This owner guy does not. Mayor Bass continues to be an excellent leader who is not the cause of the infernos facing Los Angeles but is instead guiding and cooperating with every agency.
