THIS. Pre-college biology is grossly oversimplified for sake of learning level, often to the point of being sort of inaccurate. "Species" is another good example. You're usually taught one simple definition in HS, and it doesn't even work w/ all life. In reality there are >20, and they can conflict.

I don't know who needs to hear this but sometimes a sketch is just meant to be a sketch and not a finished piece. Not everything has to be a "finished" thing. Maybe the sketch IS the finished version of that thing. If you learned from it, took what you needed, it had its purpose fulfilled.
