In The Vanguard by Chloe Smith
When I’m back from a vanguard run, they all say they can’t understand me. My neighbors, my family, my lover, they all ask, how do you do it?

do you ever stare at the ceiling and think about how the worldwide scientific establishment did the impossible and created a COVID vaccine in under a year and the response of the general public has been to go on an unstoppable rampage to destroy science and scientists

I think a really important thing is giving yourself permission to do thing slowly. You aren’t going to cook a good meal rushing, aren’t going to write a good book rushing, aren’t going to enjoy your day with a friend rushing. It’s really important to practice intentional slowness sometimes.

"We are God's windows." I loved Perspective(s) by Laurent Binet, a murder mystery set in sixteenth century Florence starring Vasari, Cellini, Michelangelo, and many Medicis. Short too! I've included my cat's foot for scale.
