This is at least the fourth story I've seen of an author having to exchange multiple emails (over 20) with this publisher to get the contract language to not be rights grabby and it's one of three where the writer walked away. I appreciate the effort and transparency but I will also say-

I think a really important thing is giving yourself permission to do thing slowly. You aren’t going to cook a good meal rushing, aren’t going to write a good book rushing, aren’t going to enjoy your day with a friend rushing. It’s really important to practice intentional slowness sometimes.
