I’ve received at least three of the “private book club” reviewer scam email recently. Immediate weird vibes and very obviously AI generated, filled with emojis. An excellent write up!

I keep thinking about last November. I'll be thinking about it next year. And the next. And the next. And long after. I think about how easily this could have been avoided. All of it.

At a time when the most influential media institutions and leaders in the U.S. need to stand up for free speech, they are doing the opposite — either to line their pockets or avoid Trump’s wrath. They’re treating the erosion of our fundamental rights as a cost of doing business.

The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.

Besides the incredible story, art, and production history, also swirling in my mind is the Subcontinental representation, & allusions to looting (rarely discussed in war films) It reminded me of Makoto Shinkai’s Beyond the Clouds (2004) 🫶❤️‍🔥💎🫟
