And Derelict Star has no lack of thought out movement mechanics it has SO many mechanics that seem invisible at first and they're all picked to suit the game, not picked to hit gamefeel checkboxes. You should play it!!

derelict star is completely devoid of coyote time as an aesthetic choice (well there's actually a slight mechanical reason too but let's pretend i did it all for clout).

for this kind of media to work it needs to be hyper-specific to the personal story of the people that made it. you can't just amalgamate a bunch of nostalgic touchstones across decades and expect that to land with any truth. i don't want to connect with a product; i want to connect with a person.
