I had a frittata for breakfast. Well, I had a baked egg & bread slice. Okay, it was not so much bread, but a flour-product. Yeah, sure — it was sweetened… and enriched with butter… Fine. Whatever. I had cake for breakfast.

I’m visiting the US for work, but added a few days to see my family. I mentioned to my sister (also 🏳️🌈) that I wanted to try at watch Bake Off this evening… She said she also wanted to watch a women’s basketball match this evening. I promise, we don’t actively try to enact our own stereotypes…

I don’t disagree with people who say that Vance is just as bad… But I do think so much of the GOP/MAGA fascist movement is tied up in a cult of personality around Trump, a complete fracturing to the point of collapse is possible when That Day comes…🤞

You know those little warnings in the corner at the start of shows like, “Contains violence, flashing lights etc…”? We were watching “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” last night. It had the indication that there was product placement. Product placement, in Star Trek?!?!?

George W. Bush may think that a war against Iraq is the solution to our problems, but the reality is, it will only serve to create far more.

The “in effect; virtually” meaning of 'literally' is not a new sense. It has been in regular use since the 18th century and may be found in the writings of Mark Twain, Charlotte Brontë, James Joyce, and many others.

US deports hundreds of Venezuelans "despite" court order. Meaning, of course: "in breach of". On the face of it, it looks like there is now a full constitutional crisis in United States, in that the executive is now freely ignoring court orders. Crisis point reached.

Their arrival comes less than 24 hours after a federal judge blocked a law Trump planned to use for the deportations.

A reminder for those curious: An executive order DOES carry the full force of law and remains to do so until struck down through judicial review, legislation, or a further executive order.

I was there in 2009 for Obama’s inauguration. DC was packed with people — streets situated blocks away from the mall were so crammed that you could not move. And it was bitter cold (abt. 15°F/-10°C with wind chill). Despite it all, there were palpable feelings of warmth, joy, and optimism.
