I grew up working class. I remember drawing with short pencils my mum stole from work. When I fell for film there were no video phones & 8mm/VHS was too expensive. So I couldn't make films as a kid. If I had a camcorder I would have made movies. If I had AI I would not have made movies. It would.

Related, I once went to a special screening of Tarkovsky's Stalker, one of my favourite movies, with a live performance by Lisa Gerrard & Dead Can Dance. The music was exquisite, but it did not marry with the movie at all. I found myself detaching from the screen and daydreaming to the music.

Went to see Back to the Future scored live by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra last night. Amazing but weird: after a while I stopped noticing the score was being played before me. A reminder that cinema is a big collaborative art, an army of talented people, but when it's working you don't notice.
