Before I have to start cleaning the house for an inspection & making the next few day's meals, I finally stole a little time to start writing a script that's mine: a micro budget feature straight from my sad, scared, sick old psyche. Might be the best 1st act I've ever written. For myself anyway.

I was a kid in the 80s. I was poorly verbal, socially confused, avoided eye contact, prone to intense interests, sensitive to sounds, light & smells, exhausted by school so much I would frequently run away to hide somewhere to be alone and stim. I was there, but they called it a "bad attitude".

I finally started writing a novel that's been scratching at the inside of my skull like an angry centipede for years. I intended to keep the prose simple, as I lack confidence, but instead it's come out as the pompous observations of an amateur anthropologist, and it's too much fun to stop now.

We were never going to get the kind of Buffy reboot that hits the way I want it to. But if we did, it would be created by Alice Maio Mackay.

"What the hell is FAIRY DUST?" It's an autistic & queer themed, dark fantasy and horror-adjacent dreamquest with surreal masked characters, a heavy metal-inspired soundtrack and a unique visual aesthetic. It's everything my 1980s self ever wanted in a film. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

My boomer mum spent a week in hospital, so when she got out I've spent the last week with her at her place. I've sat and watched so many murder mystery shows that I've had an idea for a whodunnit script that I really like. It's more traditional than CARNAGE FOR CHRISTMAS was, but rather cheeky.

Was looking at the new Faces of Death. I hope I get to write or make a remake one day. Would be a fun challenge. Tempted to find some old public domain horror flick and write one for fun. Not sure what though.

There's a manned moon mission in my lifetime and I just can't bring myself to care. We're facing horrifying dystopian realities now. If we want to cling to our Star Trek fantasies we need to be working on clean energy, replicators and AI that doesn't drink our water and rot our brains. Fuck space.
