DOOM fully rendered in CSS. Every surface is a <div> that has a background image, with a clipping path with 3D transforms applied. Of course CSS does not have a movable camera, so we rotate and translate the scene around the user.

For such a popular series, it's crazy that it took THREE YEARS for Megaman to come to the Super NES as "Mega Man X". But the wait was well worth it! Excellent graphics, amazing music, super-tight controls and that wall jumping mechanic is *chef's kiss*.

<sips tea. Sets mug down on the table quietly> <pinches bridge of nose> <writes the following> So I have a new VLB VGA card that i want to spit out low res VESA modes. Test bench LCD monitor says out of range, and I am honestly considering running VSync through my scope to find out WHAT is going on.

Spent 2 days trying to figure out why this card wouldnβt work after reballing. It would show up as sometimes, but the device ID was wrong. Turns out the BIOS address line A1 is open on the core. MAYBE the temperature I was using was too high and killed core? A lesson learned hardπ€

This Dell System 310 was one of my employerβs first PCs. It was found in a closet, but I was disappointed to discover the original 386DX-25MHz motherboard had been replaced with an AMD K6. Amazingly, my long-standing eBay alert finally paid off, and I now have the systemβs original motherboard!

So... I did control all the jumpers and tried to have it POST, but instead, I had a literal explosion on the board the instant I flipped the power switch. Flying sparks and a loud bang. TC26 is gone. No idea how this could have happened.

Cleaning out some stuff. I found the CPU from my very first custom build, one I used to learn FL Studio and to write all my music from 2002-2007, pretty much the pivotal moments that started music for me for real. It needs to be cleaned properly. Maybe Iβll figure out a way to frame it.

Questioning my sound card choice here: The "People's Gaming Machine 1992" will be powered by a 486 DX2-66, 8 MB RAM, 256k cache, a Cirrus Logic CL-GD5429 1MB VLB graphics card and a PicoGUS. But I have three choices for main sound card, which I'll detail in the blueskeet below.

Look who's back! All of the cards I had sent away for repairs, tha's who. These two Cirrus Logic CL-GD5428 1 MB VLB cards weren't even defective, unlike the board I tested them with! But the CL-GD5429 had gotten vartabombed. That was practically a rebuild.

Monday or Tuesday I'll get back the Cirrus Logic CL-GD5429 1MB VLB that had no less than 6 different issues. Together with the VLB motherboard from
@vswitchzero.com
's generous care package, I can finally build a "typical" 486 DX2-66 PC and enjoy some DOS games on real hardware like it's 1993!

Actually, I'll wait with my annual Might & Magic World of Xeen playthrough. I'll prepare a savegame with my party created and 0 things done, then play it once I got my "repaired" stuff back (with my only VLB graphics card) and play it on this machine, 486 DX2-66, 8 MB RAM, SB16 compatible sound card

Well, it took time for me to figure a lot out again because I finally have a full Windows 98 build again. I was just abstaining from MS-DOS mode until I would receive this card.

I got a crt monitor that I dragged here when I moved but didnβt know what to do with it. Well I moved the Core One printer to the other side of the shelf and now use the crt as a secondary monitor. 1280x1024@60hz seems to be the sweet spot (even though it could do 1900x1200 somehow).

You can honestly say you've had a solid day in retro computing if pulling off a molex connector caused a substantial loss of blood on the edge of a vintage 90s computer case
