I’ve been meaning to recap this Goldstar 3DO for YEARS😂 The caps were purchased in 2023. And the machine was never turned on after maybe 2021🤣 The machine would not turn on constantly, and only a handful of games would boot. So maybe caps?🤔

I started my blog back in 2017, which was the beginning of "vswitchzero". I've given it a much needed revamp after sitting idle for far too long. Spent many hours wrestling with CSS to get it looking the way I wanted. Now to create some new content! ✍️

This is an extremely useful piece of software and information that will help me prolong the life of my Sony Trinitron monitor. I love that we can do this without the need of those old CRT rejuvenators.

My best friend and I are going to attempt to fix this Yoshi game for game boy. I think I’ve identified the problem, no idea how this happened. Bought it used in a lot. Wish us luck.

Can’t wait to actually play some games with my recently acquired MSX2. I’m waiting for the flash cart to arrive. After testing it out I’ll need to find a gamepad solution and maybe a VGA converter to capture some stuff.

Back when TI was in the PC microprocessor game, they used color silkscreen. These are from my vintage CPU collection. For the inclined, they’re based on the Cyrix M7 486 CPU core.

Remember the days before MPEG2 (DVD), back then we had VCD's, CD-i and MPEG1 video files. If you wanted to play videos on a computer you needed additional power, these were provided in the form of MPEG decoder cards. Here's my REALmagic Netstream 1 ISA card, let's investigate!

After 9 long months, I've finally posted a new video! Today I explore the performance differences between SGRAM and SDRAM on 3dfx Voodoo3 cards. I also look at the Block Write and Write-Per-Bit features. The SGRAM advantage was larger than I expected!

Have the slowest Voodoo 3 on the bench today. The Velocity 100. Only 8MB of memory and one TMU soft-disabled (can be turned on easily in Windows). Runs at 143MHz, which is higher than the typical 16MB V3 1000’s 125MHz.

Finally decided it was time to cave and buy a PCB preheater for hardware repairs. Should hopefully make IC removal easier and I can try my hand at some basic BGA rework. 😬 It’s one of those no name 853A models. Was cheap enough to take a chance on it

There is something special when a family member asks if you would like their old CRT TV that might otherwise have gone to landfill! Even better, this one has hardly been used, picture is excellent and supports 50/60Hz as well as SCART RGB! Fabulous!

I got my Voodoo 3 3500 cable in the mail and I reattached that capacitor that was knocked off. The soldering I did on that surface-mount cap was absolutely horrendous. I genuinely apologize for making you look at this horrible work. That being said, I now have another usable Voodoo 3 for a PC build!

I finally got my copy of the new "FX3 Chip" version of Doom for SNES as well as the matching Rumble-enabled controller! While it's interesting to see what an "FX3 Chip" can do, this controller really steals the show with how sturdy and solid it feels with it's grips on the back and texture!

On April 13, 1992, Cyrix introduced its very confusing 486SLC chip. Half 386SX, half 486SX, it raised lots of questions when it was new, and it's still a confusing chip today.

Added a rare card to my 3dfx collection today. This is an OEM version of the Voodoo 3 3500 running at 183MHz. It lacks the TV tuner and massive dongle of the retail 3500 TV. Was listed incorrectly on eBay as a 3000 for a meh price. Thankfully I recognized it and jumped! 😁

If you’re looking to mail a vintage computer, now is the time to stock up on shipping supplies! Pool noodles cut to size and placed on the corners of computer cases and CRTs greatly increase their chances of making it to their final destination in one piece.
