Arguably the best thing that happened in 2025 is that our kiddo, B, moved back in with R+J and I get to see her all the time and enjoy being Babachan to kid’s kid. Also, that branch of the family got a dog, which is pretty great. But also never getting a period again is pretty freaking great. Tied.

I did the least writing I’ve done in recent years, but I read 12 novels, which is an improvement for me. I had major surgery that greatly improved my life, visited 14 states and 6 national parks, worked a lot, got in trouble a lot, took care of myself as well as I could, and had lots of good times

I did a bunch of stats about last year but did not save the post and I’m mad But I watched 146 films for the first time last year, which feels like a rookie number to me, but damn if I did not have focus in 2025

Ok so for the past month I’ve been away from home. I’ve gone cross country on the train, sorted out four storage units full of my family’s stuff, spent priceless and mental health saving time with @lemonyhead.bsky.social and her household, and so far driven across 6 states.

I am afraid of mice and hate winter, snow, and ice. But to the tiger in the zoo, I say “omg let me pet you.”

My brother is not a competent individual and has gotten thru like on weaponized incompetence and I’m very likely to crash out and lose it on him sometime this week I swear to fucking god. He is 40 fucking years old.

So, despite the fact that my mom disinherited me, I took the train to NJ, including a TWO DAY delay where we were v lucky to be able to stay with my Top and his family bc they didn’t offer us a hotel or anything.

My mom passed away on the 26th and also I found out that she disinherited me, so it’s been… a time

My mom is back to being in a really bad way medically. I just finished an extremely busy week that really physically wore out my body. We’re going to R’s mom’s house tomorrow. I haven’t wrapped anything at all yet. I got to perk up and be festive.

🎥 I watched The Housemaid the other day and that movie had the strangest pacing. It felt like a movie that was heavily padded as it crawled towards The Twist but it lingered in very odd moments. Ultimately, a very forgettable movie.

They took my mom off her ventilator and she’s breathing on her own and awake, but they do not yet have answers as to why she crashed so hard or what her next steps will be. My brother is a big optimist and keeps saying she’s out of the woods but dude, we don’t know ANYTHING about this forest.

My mom is in the ICU on a ventilator in NY right now and I’m still recovering from mastoiditis and cannot fly for at least another couple of weeks or I risk re rupturing my ear drum which is just starting to heal and possibly losing my hearing on that side forever. Plus I get my MS infusion tomorrow

So, R and I have been watching Welcome to Derry, and I expected this show to kinda suck, tbh. But it’s surprisingly quite good. Kiddo’s kid does this thing where he takes a bite of food and then announces “I like this?!?!” in shock and that’s how I feel watching this.

Nothing makes my mood drop more quickly than getting into my downstairs seat as a physically disabled person with a disabled ticket on @amtrak.com and immediately having a conductor judge me based on my age and tell me to move upstairs without looking at my ticket. Happens about 2/3rds of the time.

🎥 Film 125: Collateral (2004) 🚖 🚖 🚖 🚖 I liked this one a lot. Mann is a director who really grew on me as I got older. It was fun to see scenes shot on the hill overlooking our old apartment. This film is a love letter to LA, and it spends lots of time in a car without getting claustrophobic.

🎥 Film 124: (today was a double header) Freaks (1932) 🎪 🎪 🎪 🎪 ♿️ ♿️ ♿️ ♿️ A movie about how abled people use and infantilize disabled people and the harm that they can do when entering into disabled spaces with selfish intentions that features lots of disabled actors…so ahead of its time.

Film 123: The Crow (1994) 🐦‍⬛ 🐦‍⬛ 🐦‍⬛ 🐦‍⬛ Blathers recommended this as a rainy day movie, and once again, he’s one of the few people who does not miss with understanding the vibes I’m trying to harness. I loved the style of this film. It’s certainly a vibes movie, but I love a vibes movie.
