I've been a programmer for 12 years. LLMs are crap at everything except writing snippets you could just copy from some website. Highly debatable whether they're quicker or better. Very occasionally some niche problem occurs that they can solve, but it's more "oh neat," than "omg revolutionary."

Every good programmer I know has been saying this to me for months; meanwhile every not-great programmer I know has been trying to outsource their work to ai, causing more issues/delays than they if did it themselves. A lot of these tools only seem good to people who are not great at their jobs.

I finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 tonight and it fucking wrecked me.

It’s gone so quickly from ‘boat people’ to all immigrants. So quickly from ‘I don’t mind if they come here legally and pay taxes’ to ‘actually it’s anyone foreign’. We are living in the ‘first they came for’ poem. All to give the population a scapegoat so the super rich can hoard yet more wealth.

This event was how I and a lot of other self publishers got started. It's such a fun and helpful piece of the writing community. Go check out some of the books!

Possibly the most boring post on bluesky, but I learned something new today—I've been using em dashes wrong my entire life and no on has pointed it out. I thought when you used them like a colon, you were supposed to do it like this— with a space on one side. But apparently it's this—with no space.

I have 3 novels trunked. One even has a commissioned cover. I think for me they end up there when the amount of work required to "fix" them has eclipsed my remaining enthusiasm for the project. That happens quicker if revisions haven't been actually getting it closer to the standard I'm happy with.
