Today I got to sign a dog-eared and heavily annotated copy of Perilous Times whose owner is using it as a core text of her PhD research and let me tell you, you can keep your awards and your accolades and your big film deals. It was the best feeling in the world.

50 - The Knight Watch by Thomas D Lee This book is amazing!! Queer knights of the round table killing nazis, what more do you need? It's also got Isolde absolutely fed up with Tristan's nonsense, a nod or two to the Sword in the Stone and Agravain being a whole other level of aggravating!

I have been rereading Perilous Times by @thomasdlee.bsky.social in order to crack my copy of The Knight Watch (out tomorrow from Orbit!) and I cannot express enough how everyone should read it. Arthurian legend meets billionaires and climate change.

Yep. There's a reason The Knight Watch isn't being published in the USA at the moment. My US editor never explicitly told me to cut the queer characters, but he did tell me to cut the chapters that contained queer content 😑 I think they were worried that a gay book about killing Nazis wouldn't sell.

Really enjoying The Last Contract of Isako by the legendary @fondalee.bsky.social - a blisteringly relevant and uncompromising critique of corporate greed. I can say with some authority that it's exactly the sort of book you want to have in your backpack when your train is delayed by four hours.

Yesterday I finished reading this deliciously clever and funny book by @alessandraranelli.bsky.social - it's a steamy love-letter to golden age detective fiction, classy and hilarious in equal measure, combining nostalgic tropes with unexpected twists.

Banning gAI will (very slowly, unfortunately) become the norm, that is and always was the one true "adapt or die". Given enough time, an "infinite content machine" is not desirable anywhere and is bad for everyone, it's just Spam 2.0.
