I used to do karate when I was a kid. I’ve picked it back up mostly for enjoyment & because my youngest does it too (it’s an all-ages class). But also because it’s one of the few organised trans-inclusive places left for me to keep fit, and increasingly I feel the need to keep my self-defence sharp.

This was my godmother, ‘Aunt’ Peggy. She was my maternal grandfather’s best friend and a rock after my grandmother died at a young age. Irish through-and-through, with a heart of gold as well as steel. 35 yrs later I still think fondly and miss her as much as any of my grandparents. #StPatricksDay
