I’m going to be honest, if you are trans and not a trans woman and you join a women’s sport team that doesn’t allow trans women to join, I think you should not be considered an ally of trans women.

Like at a basic level most perpetrators are men and most survivors are women and girls and it seems unlikely to me that dynamic would emerge if "cycles of abuse" had any meaningful explanatory power tbh.

Intracommunity abuse in trans communities is a real phenomenon and typically, ime, takes the form of the most vulnerable trans people being exploited by the most privileged (relative to still being a tranny). But the biggest abusers of trans women are still cis people, mostly cis men.

I'm not saying trauma can't cause people to behave in shitty ways. I'm not saying that shitty behaviour can't reach the level of abuse. But the focus on this ignores the far more common problem of people who abuse because they can and they know they'll get away with it.
