This reminds me from my panel yesterday at @animelockdown.bsky.social when I showed that Ring ni Kakero's Jesus Christ (the WBA Bantamweight World Champion) was 100% just "a Char". And he debuted in the manga in 1981 right as the first Gundam movie was airing in theaters in Japan, too!

Thanks to everyone who showed up to my Masami Kurumada panel for @animelockdown.bsky.social. Hope you all had a great time. I especially liked this bit where I got to point out that Vegeta was, essentially, a years-long goal of Akira Toriyama's to one day create "a really cool guy like Kenzaki".
